Ipsy Glam Bag-September 2013

I decided to give one of these monthly beauty bag/box subscriptions a try. My thought was that for a $10 a month I would be able to save some money and still be able to test out new beauty products. I don't believe I saved any money this month, because the crazy beauty addict in me "needed" the latest and greatest products.. every other day.
But I still like the idea that I can try out beauty products that are delivered to my mailbox monthly!

Glam Bag recently launched at the beginning of the year, with the creator being Michelle Phan I had high hopes of being able to test out great products..

Product overview:

John Frieda Full Repair Full body shampoo and conditioner- First off, I can buy these sample sizes at target for 99 cents. I was thinking maybe these were sent to me because they're miracle products.. But I was wrong. These weighed my hair down, giving no body, and left it frizzier than normal.  I'd understand maybe being sent a sample size of a luxurious hair product, but this was a huge disappointment for me.

It's So big Volumizing Mascara by Elizabeth Mott- I was quite excited about this mascara since I had never heard of it and the fact that I love anything that will volumize mt lashes. Now, I haven't given it a fair trial yet for a full review, but there doesn't seem to be anything amazing about this product.. or any added volume.
Let me know if you are interested in a full review.

Starlooks eyeliner in Obsidian- Again, I have yet to give this a full trial run. So far, this seems like a decent eyeliner. It is nicely pigmented for a pencil liner and seems to have good staying power (since it wouldn't come off after swatching it on my hand).

NYX eyeshadow in Velvet Suede-
I'm already a fan of NYX eye shadow formulas. This is a beautiful color and I'll get use out of it, I just wish a more wearable color, or at least a fall color, would've been thrown in.

Sampler of the Career Life Palette by Em cosmetics- I was very excited to see this in my bag, though its not a huge amount of product -I only got one use out of the blush-, it still lets you sample the product. The eye shadows are very smooth, but not extremely pigmented. The lack of pigment can be a good thing so that shadows can be built up instead of over doing it in one application. I did see a variation in pigment with just the 3 shadows I received, the gold being the most pigmented. These shadows are very blendable, and easy to work with. The blush is not a color I would go for but is very smooth and the same type of pigmentation as the shadows.

*Please let me know if you would like to see an in depth review on any of the products listed.

in conclusion:
I'm not very impressed with my first Glam Bag. I have heard some months are better than others, So I will stay subscribed for another month or two more to hopefully see an improvement.. If not onto another subscription.

Have you tried any beauty bag/box subscriptions? What would you recommend?
If not, what subscriptions would you be interested in seeing reviews on?
